The artwork Black n Blue is a meditation on the bittersweet nature of departure, the quiet sorrow of leaving something behind. It captures that lingering ache, the way nostalgia and loss intertwine, leaving behind traces of what once was. it references bruising, a visual and physical manifestation of pain, suggesting that leaving something behind is not always easy, something that fades but is never entirely forgotten.

Within this work I try to evoke a sense of transition, perhaps a slow fade from something once familiar into an uncertain future. It speaks to the quiet sadness of departure, the moment when you turn away for the last time, knowing that even if you return, things will never quite be the same. The artwork is not just about loss however, but about the deep imprint that meaningful experiences leave on us, shaping who we become long after we’ve said goodbye.
