Neues, the fifth work in the Night Hour series, draws its inspiration from Berlin, a city defined by its vast, imposing grid structure. The all-square composition reflects the overwhelming scale of Berlin, contrasting sharply with the more intimate cities encountered on my journey. As with the other pieces in this series, the deep blue and purple hues are drawn directly from the river's dark, reflective surface at night, an embodiment of the quiet yet immense presence that defines the city after dark. Through this work, I explore how the subtle shifts in colour and form can evoke the profound atmosphere of Berlin's urban landscape.
