A quote I heard at the beginning of the year, and which has remained with me throughout the last 12 months. So much of life is not promised. We try to take each day as it comes, but none of us truly know what lies around the corner. Gardening, though, is a promise. It is a literal promise, that we will provide the seed we have sown with enough food, light and water for it to grow. But it is a metaphorical promise, a promise to ourselves. The promise that the seeds we sow today will blossom into something beautiful and meaningful, and, with perseverance, we will one day reap those rewards.
