“Post tenebras lux” is a Latin phrase which translates as “After darkness, I hope for light”. It was chosen as the Calvinist motto, and is used by John Calvin’s adopted city of Geneva on their coins.
My travels took me to Switzerland this summer, visiting family and exploring the wonderful city of Geneva. During a trip to nearby Lausanne, I was transfixed by the luminosity of the colours of this house in the midday sun, enhanced further by its proximity to the lake. The movement of light is an unending source of inspiration to me, and my happy memories of European summers bathed in the brightness of contentment continue to influence my work today.
