Emily Bronte once wrote that “every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree”. Many people feel melancholic when autumn arrives to usher out the summer months, but I enjoy the transition between seasons and metaphoric move from one part of the year to another. I spend a lot of time at a nearby coastal area of natural beauty, which is a bustling home to a variety of sand dune ecology. I draw inspiration from seeing the summer flora make way for new autumn life, and take it as a time for introspection and transformation. Rather than resisting change, I feel a renewed sense of optimism of what tomorrow will bring.
